Choosing the thickness of GFRC on your CSIP project

The thickness of your GFRC will vary from project to project but we will cover the basics here for you.

A GFRC SIP panel is coated with GFRC on both sides. And both sides typically have a top coat or finish coat. The top coat can have a wide variety of textures and colors.

The GFRC on a Structural Insulated Panel is typically anywhere from 3/8″ to 5/8″ thick.  When it comes to the thickness of your GFRC on the SIP panel , it’s all about strength. Strength is measured in three categories, Flexural Strength, Tensile Strength Yield and Compressive Strength.

With your Glass Fiber at 3-5% by weight your GFRC strength will be approximately:

Flexural Strength: 1,100 psi

Tensile Strength Yield: 750 – 2500 psi

Compressive Strength: 4,000 – 8000 psi
